Hi, just finishing building a 900 series Chipmunk but i am now having trouble making the nose cone and canopy stick, i have tried balsa cement, white glue and Gorilla glue, nothing works on either bare balsa or tissue covered. My own experience is that when there’s enough stress on a wood-to-wood joint that Titebond or similar won’t hold, I then go back into the joint, brushing as much Gorilla Glue into the crack as I can (not the best way to glue a wood joint, but in these cases the only remedy possible other than breaking apart all the other joints that did hold and essentially destroying the object).

So far I have had glued my concrete bird bath back together (3 years ago), glued the handle back onto the microwave, repaired a plastic door inside the fridge, and glued ceramic pots back together. I went to Sloans Woodshop the other day, they sell a glue that is supposed to be just for this.

Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue is a new type of wood working glue with superior strength and durability. If it smells moderately funky (but tolerable), the glue is probably close to the end of its shelf life. I mentioned on another thread that I was able to successfully bond styrene plastic to wood (in this case, birch plywood). Polyurethanes can work well on a wide variety of wood species, particularly on woods with high moisture content or on oily woods, where other glues are not as successful. Which glue product do you recommend and please share your suggestions on how I can hold the frame in place while the glue cures.

It was only a small sea shell but i have been able to reconise which piece fits the other pieces in shorter words i can glue it back together! During this process my plastic framed cork board was removed (unscrewed) from the drywall and now I cannot put it back in that location. For gluing metals, ceramics and woods, some adhesives recommend scoring or lightly sanding the surface where you will be applying the glue in order to create a better bond. Today, modern adhesives are made of a mixture of chemicals and synthetics that optimize drying time, bonding power and elasticity.

Well, actually, no. In order to successfully glue two components together, you need to take into account what you’re gluing, where you’re sticking it, and how much strength it will need to do once it dries. If Titebond Wood Glues are accidentally spilled on clothing, it is important to immediately wet it with water and keep it wet until all adhesive is rubbed off of the clothing.

For most of our wood glues, we recommend clamping an unstressed joint for thirty minutes to an hour. X-Acto knife or paint scraper — If your glue has dried completely but you notice drips, sharp blades are the best way to clean off excess glue. Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue and Titebond II Premium Wood Glue have both been approved for indirect food contact. I puchased Gorilla wood glue & super glue to repair a chair & a porcelain statue. Wood glue leaves a natural stainable or paintable surface and, depending on the brand, takes from five minutes to one hour to set.

I am looking for an adhesive or glue that when I put it on the top rim, that if it comes in contact with the water, it will not only stick and stay put, put its safe for me to drink from.

The NAD adhered to their set of interpretations of what constitutes a real claim and what constitutes puffery, and ruled against Gorilla Glue They recommended discontinuing the claim on their packages and in advertising. It is a glue made from boiling ‘animal connective tissue’ (cartilage, bone, hoof). You can drill into bricks or the mortar joints between them (which is softer) using a masonry drill bit (a hammer drill works the best), then tap plastic anchors in the holes with screws in the anchors to hold the wire.

When we had a mirror installed in our bathroom recently, they used a mastic adhesive, then screwed up several small plastic brackets to hold it in place until the adhesive set. Skint: I’ve tried an experiment with the Loctite 401 by leaving some on the surface of the plastic and it doesn’t seem to burn the surface as you found with your glue. I’ve included a simple, kid-safe version above, which will work for most paper and small wood or plastic craft projects, but here is a list of 11 natural glue recipes you can try. Different types of glue sticks melt at different temperatures and are used for various applications.

Versions are also available that are foam safe (regular CA dissolves most plastic foams) which are usually also marketed as low odor. A clear glue stick (available at office supply stores) will hold photos to glass. The major difference is that the water based takes longer to dry prior to bonding and the solvent based has a very strong odor. It doesn’t stick like contact cement, but I stuck a piece of plastic to MDF and came back about 30 minutes later and tried with all my might to pull it off the MDF.
