One of the current trends in DIY coffee tables is the rustic, worn look of reclaimed wood and industrial hardware. When i completed building the table, the table top has some flex to it in the corners when you put some weight on it which pushes the other corners up/down. After bringing in the top and before attaching it all together, i gave the wood several coats of Howards Feed n’ Wax – this stuff is awesome! Basically what you want to do is raise your table saw’s blade to a little less tall than half the thickness of the leg (about 1 5/8′). And, as always, I’ve provided my tutorial pictures to make it even easier for you to create your own! I would hate for them to go through all the trouble and then the table breaks in half.

The offset will give you a table that looks like it was built by a farmer rather than by West Elm.
