The upper portion of our entertainment center will be made in three sections: a center section for the TV and two side sections for books, audio gear and collectibles. If you end up using this plan, please let me know how it goes and send me a picture, I would interested to see how your build turns out.
The thickness of your posts will complete the overall width, so your shelving panels should account for this measurement. Since this defeats the whole original goal, we’re back to either using an economical set outside and replacing it when it breaks (as break it will), or building a sunroom around a TV and calling it a day. Five drawers would be 1.8ft each (550mm) which are wide enough for most common items you would have in such a unit such as games, movies, etc.

Instead of being a functional computer system for hobbyist programming with a TV tuner, the tuner was removed from the casing of an RCA brand TV (GE for the Compucolor II) since such a feature during the 1970s would have been too costly for such an application. From a simple stand made of recycled pallets to a drawer and shelf entertainment center to hold all your electronics, there’s a plan that will be just right for you. You could always make wood slides though like -content/uploads/2011/10/drawer-sl… or just have the drawer rest and slide on blocks of wood but this isnt as classy. I decided to not have a top to this box so that the TV could still be taken off the wall and taken out to the porch when a big game is on. I made my measurements for the 3-sided box and measured how far out the TV stood for my depth and the total dimensions of the paintings. Make sure the drawer height is at least 3/4 in. shorter than the opening height. I also don’t like it off to the side of a TV stand, so I’m trying to make something to combine it altogether.

The idea here is that you simply store the TV in the cabinet and only open up the front when you want to watch it. The only difference is that this frame should be flush with the top of the TV cabinet as its job is to support the top plywood panel, which rests on top of the overall frame. To do this, decide if the panel will be on the right or left side of the TV cabinet as you ar efacing the cabinet.
