When I began oil painting over a decade ago, I had not idea somewhere embedded was a love for the Big Cats. I love all animals, but there is something very special about these majestic creatures, whether they be Chinese tigers, Bengal tigers or even African lions. Strength, power, beauty, regal – and to be feared or revered, in a respectful way. I began dissecting how much could be created by only showing one eye as oppose to both. He truly is shrouded in mystery with a ton of drama – he stands 3 feet tall! This allowed me to zero in on his expression of curiosity back at his viewer and make his features larger than life-size.
