Gypsy Vanners, have you ever seen these guys in person? My painting here is cropped for the sake of a great panoramic shot, but you have to look at these guys’ feet when you see them. Well, they’re unmistakeable; feathering, major feathering on the legs, main and tail. The Gypsy horse is a small draft horse from England, there they call them “ponies”, or Gypsy Cob – they came here to the states in the early 90′s. joker388

No joke, Gypsies would use these particular horses because they were “showy like them” and they had the strength to pull their caravans – and last but not least – they were exceptional playmates around the children! Clever name for them, huh? I photographed these guys and I have never had a more childlike experience. They are amazingly light on their feet, playful and full of spirit. These guys here are all youngsters too, full of horse games. Enjoy! I’m working on another painting at the moment featuring a similar theme but in golds and earth tones for the color. I paint all horse breeds and commissions, just contact me. Quarter horse, miniature horse, thoroughbred horses, paint horses – all of them. Due to spamming, please share instead!
