Sprinkles! Gluten Free Red Velvet Cupcakes; Phx Coach Deborah

Sep 19, 2011 by

LOVE LOVE the gluten free food options out there for us in today’s world! I found out I was gluten intolerant about 18 months ago – a horrifying thought for a girl who loves breads and pastries….I’ve tried lots of gluten free options, both out and homemade….hard to find something palatable without grit and heavy nutty flavor…or worse – a mystery flavor undefined that belongs nowhere in desserts!

So I was skeptical trying the gluten free red velvet cupcake at Sprinkles. I expected a lead hockey puck, something that could double as self defense topped with creamy frosting. Gluten free recipes, gluten free foods, baked goods- tend to be hearty, they’re easy to overcook, become dry. Boy was I wrong! Texture: it’s fluffy. Just like a regular gluten cupcake. Gluten free baking at its best. Then flavor….amazing. It tastes like a regular red velvet cupcake – no foreign weirdness baked into the flavor, no nuttiness. Just great flavor. The cream cheese frosting is the perfect accompaniment.

I wanted 2, lol! But as a beach body coach I refrained….I know…boring but I have to keep indulgences within reasonable check :) Fitness training is “life coaching” and a lifestyle change so all in moderation. In coaching and mentoring I have to walk the talk! Oh – and I got the 2% milk with it for a protein with that sugar! Protein balances out the sugar crash and keeps you satisfied for the next few hours before eating again. So, ENJOY this wonderful cupcake at Sprinkles, drop me a line when you get yours!!

P.S: Sprinkles – because we LOVE your Red Velvet, please consider adding more cupcake recipes for the gluten free, wheat free, celiac crowd; maybe a vanilla cup cake recipe with chocolate frosting? It’d be a great compliment to the gluten free Red Velvet cake recipe version you already have :)
