1,000 Smiles | Day 26 | Pets | Humor | Deborah Peters
Pets. Smile. Day 26.
Today’s Smile post is a quick one that sums pets up: “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
Of course I have to share the back story for you to truly appreciate the photo. Ashley (left) and Oliver (Right) are co-habitat pets in my household; she tolerates him only. You see, Ashley is about 16 years old and Oliver is 5; Oliver never learned any social skills, he was a stray we took in. He was 8 weeks old & left on my Inlaws’ doorstep. The day I brought him home I tried to get Ashley to bond but she’d have no part of it. That attitude only worsened the day he discovered she made a great target for pouncing lessons…and tackling…wrestling…lol. Her reactive scowls and hisses were so real & lifelike….lol. You can just see the disgust on her face glowering as if to say: “Really? REALLY?”
Oh what would we do without our pets?
So, he cannot walk within a foot of her without receiving hisses & swipes with an ever ready paw. We both know she’s thinking: “Not the sharpest tool in the box, are ya Oliver? You’d be coyote food if they let you 1 foot outside the door….I actually fended for myself in my hay day.” He trots by completely oblivious to her or anything she has to teach. So, seeing them together – in peace – had to be caught & recorded. And I know, it is only for the sake of an afternoon nap on a very plush comforter that at least for the duration of the nap – these two pets can be allies.
