Independence Day

Before we rush off to my parents for a cookout and we watch fireworks, I wanted to pay homage to the country and the system I love on this Independence Day.

For even though many are quick to point out her flaws, America or more specifically the United States of America is the greatest nation God has ever put forth on this earth.

I wanted to recognize this as the world keeps turning, we often take for granted the freedoms and options we have as Americans. Where else can an artist and online entrepreneur have the ability to create and share freely, and live better than kings did just a century ago? Let alone be a Woman? Our forefathers of whom my linage links me to William Floyd of New York, of which I am forever grateful the he was willing to put his name and life on the line, and paid dearly so.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

Why would they risk it all? For that blessed hope to be free, free to work and prosper, and pass it on to the next generation. I believe it is this same spirit that runs in the entrepreneurs of America, they risk it all, maybe not their physical lives but definitely their honor in hopes of chasing their dreams of Freedom. This is why we must recognize the blessings we have on this day and be prepared to put forth that same pledge as we defend the bounty that America and capitalism has provided for us all.

As we celebrate America’s Independence on Independence Day, let’s take a second to recognize the fruits of our forefather labors. The labor they set forth before us, what they died for on Normandy and hold firm to the commitment of passing those same opportunities on to the next generation.

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.
