“Tiger”. So much impact is that one simple word “Tiger”. This “tiger” is very special; unlike any other.
The original painting was 36″ wide by 24″ tall, oil on canvas $3,150. Though the original has sold, this “Tiger” is available for you and your unique budget, just click the blue “tiger” link prior, for a high end print or small gift item.

Back to this “tiger” story! I personally look for photos from the wild; if by chance I cannot be on a wildlife shoot off in the Siberian forests, such as this time, then I scope through hundreds of photos available.

Since my work is all about putting that animals’ story first, and a great execution second – then the “tiger” story has to be authentic.

For me, authentic is seeing the animals in their natural environment. You see how a photo from the zoo just doesn’t cut it? Yes, those “tigers” are beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But those “tigers” aren’t going to tell the same story. Usually they are fat and happy! Every time I have visited the zoo and taken photos, most of these “tigers” are sleeping, lol! They’re overweight. And, they’re constantly surrounded by people and that comfort disposition also affects the story in their expressions.

The beauty of this “tiger” in my painting, the reference came right out of the Siberian Forest in Winter.

Many associate the Siberian Tiger in the winter scene with a beautiful thick and healthy coat. What my client wanted for his “tiger” was a story of instinct. Beautiful “tiger” basking in the sun or playing in the pool at the zoo just wouldn’t do, lol! And after viewing hundreds of photos….(which is the labor of love I do for ALL my wildlife art)
I finally found the “tiger” reference that was going to make a great painting! “Siberian Hunter” is exactly that; he’s hunting. We see the story, intense and focused in his face, we want to know more:
“A powerful presence moves among the forest trees unwavering; striking eyes focused with vigilance.”
