The extraordinary Victorian dark oak gate leg table is a Queen Anne revival piece in remarkable original condition. The great irony of Mission-style furniture is that even though the Arts and Crafts movement supposedly rejected mechanization, Stickley would used steam-powered or electric woodworking machines to get the wood ready for his pieces, which would then be hand-finished by his artisans. It is solidly constructed with oak slabs that have been fashioned to create a beautiful decorative piece.
We aim to mirror the bygone era of specialist furniture emporiums and now have 400 square metres of floor space spread over two floors stocked with quality Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, Victorian, Edwardian and Federation furniture from 1880 to 1930.
