Rekindling your Drive | Career Goals. Ever wonder why you always see people needing motivation towards their goals? Or they shift gears and constantly change them?

Truth, we love new challenges but unless they are truly your passion – you won’t stick with them. Lately I’ve been reading a lot about self improvement and goal setting, leaders continually set large goals to achieve. When they achieve them, they have another in the wings. Studies continually show when we expand our thinking and broaden our goals, go beyond ourselves-

you tend to have the fire and dedication, discipline necessary to achieve your new career, life or personal goals.

That’s exactly the shift we’re at right now in our lives. With art, it was more personal, kinda one-sided. It’s a sole-business. It’s also economy-driven. With our new business we’ve been building for a few years now, it’s multifaceted with expansion to help others realize they can own their own business too. That’s very rewarding.

Goal Setting, LIFE and Gratitude. It’s Sunday, today is a Faith post. In all honesty, chasing your dreams, I have to share that when I’m weak, I draw strengths from my Faith, I’m a Christian gal. Matthew 25 talks specifically about talents, what we’re given, what we do with them, what is a blessing, etc.

So, I’ll always come back to making the most of the individual “talent” and what that entails in regards to goals setting and achieving. You know if you’re not engaged, showing up in life as the best possible version of you, making the most of your life and what you’ve been given.

Crazy as it is, the direction I find myself currently embarking upon is a sum of all the pieces of the journey colliding together and if I hadn’t gone through the things I had – I’d not be prepared for the responsibilities now placed before me. That goes for the hubby too; the journey of change has molded us to be flexible and be open to changes. You also will find if you’re open to change, great opportunities can be presented before you – things you never dreamed possible.

Why we avoid Change | Step 3 of 3. Down to the final step! We’ve covered step 1, pain of loss, step 2 – pain of process and now finally, step 3- pain of outcome.

Brendon Burchard refers to this vicious circle as the “trio of fear” and when we heed to all 3 (normal), it keeps us from welcoming the necessary change in our lives needed.

Step 3, and the pain of outcome is where you ask:

“What if I change up my routine, invest all this extra effort and it STILL doesn’t work?”

Another negative What if question. Guaranteed, entering into the new set of goals on this negative side certainly will affect your attitude, approach and action towards your new goal/s. Instead, replace “doesn’t” with WILL. Begin to focus on all the ways it will work, all the positive outcomes that will come from it. This includes:

-Your mental shift
-Your life itself
-the new relations
-the new things learned
-the new opportunities of doors opening up

And what all those things will bring. Brendon shares our mind brings to reality what we focus on…it cannot help but find ways to make something work once we bring this resolve to the situation. What are areas in your life that could use a positive flip?

The second phase of “pain” experienced is the Pain of Process. This involves all the undertaking your mind is going to absorb with the new change/s. You’ll start adding up all the colossal efforts involved here…whether they’re real, or embellished – even imagined. The molehills become mountains; everything is struggle. And since there is struggle, which is discomfort- you’re no longer motivated…you begin to fear it..

it’s very hard to imagine great gain with struggle, we tend to equate the struggle as much more than the gain. In fact, it overthrows any positives in the picture. Now, #1 Pain (Loss; potentially giving up things to pursue your goal/s) combined with the #2 Pain (the process of implementation) becomes a huge snowball of negative…

All before you even start. Right here, 2 strikes against your ability to welcome Change. As with the first post and video #1, here too, you’ll want an objective supporter nearby, one who can bring unbiased perspective on the situation, give you some rational clarity. Top 3 list of why we don’t change and how to overcome. Smart goal setting, achieving your goals. This will probably be your most powerful situation in life; it affects all your decision making, for better or worse. Change, changes, change your life, change management – it’s all here.

Let’s get right to it, the top 3 reasons holding you back from Change involves PAIN. Sharing with you tips from my life coach and mentor…

1. PAIN of LOSS.
2. PAIN of PROCESS.
3. PAIN of OUTCOME.

For this post, we’ll focus on #1, PAIN of LOSS.

For many, and this might include you, I know I’ve been there several times – this first one is one which many cannot get past and face defeat right at the onset. Did you know it’s not Change that you really fear? You rather fear what change will or won’t bring…and it’s how you view those circumstances that defines your definition of what change really means to you. I think most of us would be quite annoyed if we realized that devil with the pitchfork is not sitting on just one shoulder, he’s actually residing in the chambers of the heart, and the mind – making decisions for you. Or, at least, hoping to sway your decision. At least, before you’ve thought it all completely through.

PAIN of LOSS is the first immediate reaction.

“What you will have to give up” in order to achieve your new goal or goals. This is when you imagine all your comforts flipped 180 degrees, suddenly, You’re “All work and no play.” All your enjoyments – gone. All that you love – Gone. You then begin to fixate and imagine all the things you will lose because of the change, and in doing so you also expect to lose more than you gain.

Whoah! Let’s stop there for a second.

We haven’t even discussed Gains. They’re not even in the picture here – but somehow your mind has decided that changes mean giving up the “familiar”, which means “less than” which means “loss”…and let’s face it – loss makes you fearful and unmotivated. Before you know it, before you have even looked at the flip side of the coin, you have talked yourself out of this new change management.

It’s very important here to have an unbiased bystander, good friend or even coworker to talk with here, because they’ll be the ones to bring up the flip side. Oftentimes we get so tuned in to our own thoughts, we forget help around us. They’ll be rational, where you’re not. They’ll point out the gains you cannot see. Now is the time to take out a sheet of paper, draw a straight line down the middle. At the top left, write “Pro’s” and the top right, “Cons” and make a list so your eyes and mind can register them both.

Attack your goals like you’re getting paid… set your goals, your smart goals. It’s so important to treat your goals, your dreams with a solid outline, much like the dedication you would bring to your job, your work ethic while getting paid!

Sometimes it can be so crystal clear for us when it comes to work on what to do to accomplish strides, but when we view our personal life, things get clouded. Think about your outline and break it up into smaller tasks, give yourself a real timeline of both long and short term goals. Make your new set of goals “a job” until they become habit-forming.

For instance, I meet a lot of people that would “like” to have a following online, even make money at it, but they’re not willing to dedicate more than a few hours a week to it. Nothing will happen with so little invested. Not here, not anywhere. Don’t kid yourself! If you want real change, treat it as though your life depended upon it, if not your life, you’re ultimate career path.

Be the Change | Change your life. Sharing a great excerpt from a great book I’m reading. We all think about change, it can plague our mind at times. Sometimes, even live in the past of glory days because we may not like where we’re at, at the moment. Maybe you felt alive at one point and you’re searching for that again and not sure where to begin.

What is holding you back?

Studies have shown “change”-real change involving flipping your priorities upside down, literally is where it’s at. When I say this of course, it means to replace the “empty activities” with the ones that are going to “feed” your soul, your goals. This shift has to be totally different from your “norm” and you must approach it with patience, while throwing locked in “expectations” out the window. Goals are good – when flexible. You’ll need room in here to adjust, modify, etc.

That’s all success is, modification after modification after modification. Believe. I’ve been an entrepreneur now for 6 years and an online marketer for a few. Getting your special message out there while building a following online can be tricky, be sure to opt in my list so you get started on the right track, with the right training.

Challenge and being open as Entrepreneurs. So often, opportunities can present themselves in ways you just never saw coming. I mean, never saw months back, years back or even several years back!

It’s so important to be open to what the situation can show you, especially when you’re in uncharted waters. If you go in with locked, concrete expectations on how something has to go, you truly set yourself up for failure. As me mentor shared, “We set ourselves up for future bitterness and resentment.”

new challenges are just that. They’re NEW. As an entrepreneur running a small business, you’re the pioneer, the innovator in progressing stages of figuring things out. The time to be locked in your thinking is after you’ve had the time to be a student of the game. From there you can sift, discern and decide what needs to be changed, modified or completely thrown out.

But don’t do it prematurely or you just might throw your dreams away with it. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it!

Launching this blog several months back with the idea of building a following and future customers was completely foreign to my mindset. Email Marketing and the reward behind Follow Through. This story comes from my friend Mason. All too often, as Gary Vaynerchuk shares on his video:

There’s a lot of people out there that call themselves entrepreneurs, that are uncomfortable with sales. I’m a salesman, and I’m proud of it – there’s nothing to be ashamed of. They wrestle with being authentic. The only way to be authentic is to friggin’ be it – salesman and all.

Mason does email marketing as I do, for a marketing system online. People opt in to his list to get more information on the product, what it does and how it can benefit and grow their business. Here’s the thing about sales; you cannot determine when people buy. People make that decision for themselves on their own. All you can do is your part, to stay consistent and be there when they are ready.

Sure enough, he had a sale on day 68 of his email marketing campaign. And email goes out each day, and this sale took 2.5 months to make. For this particular customer, they were ready to buy after a few months of seeing what Mason does in his business, and felt it was the right purchase to make for them.

Now imagine if he had thrown in the towel on day 67? You know the answer. This training is just one of the many valuable tools I’m implementing in my business here online.
